Although the program was initially marketed towards industrial, commercial and institutional clients, the decrease in environmental impact and financial savings the program offered quickly became popular in the construction and demolition sectors as well. 

What is LEED?

LEED is an acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). It was formed in an effort to provide a national standard for green building design. The pilot version of these guidelines was implemented in 2000 and has continually been expanded upon and upgraded. It is currently the most widely used green building rating system internationally. LEED certification lays out a foundation for exceptionally efficient, healthy and economical green buildings, which provide numerous social, ecological and governance benefits. There are different standards that apply to Commercial Interiors, Existing buildings, Core and Shell, as well as Residential Buildings. Our specialists will be happy to help guide you through the specific required standards and process.

The LEED rating system is contingent on achieving a certain number of points, which are allocated for design choices specified within the standard. There are 6 sections to LEED that target defined design criteria:

  • Efficient use of Water
  • Energy and Atmosphere
  • Materials and Resources
  • Indoor Environmental Quality
  • Innovative Design

Depending on the number of points achieved, the building can attain Platinum (52 – 69 points), Gold (39 – 51 points), Silver (33 – 38 points) or LEED certified (26 – 32 points) status.

  • We can supply separate dumpsters for each different type of recyclable material or provide a single bin for general mixed construction waste and separate the materials at our various partnered transfer stations that follow all environment regulations, are clean and well maintained.
  • On a monthly basis we will send our customers a detailed report illustrating how much waste has been diverted and the percentage breakdown of each recyclable material.
  • Letters from the receiving facilities will further explain how these materials are processed and what new products will be made from the material that our customers helped divert from landfill.
